5 Ways to Make Your Wedding Day Memorable For Guests
Hey there, how is planning going? I am sure you have already thought of so many ways to make your wedding day absolutely beautiful, and please do not let me add to your list of things to do! But, if you’re feeling a little stuck on how to make your wedding day enjoyable to your guests, here are just five ways to make it memorable and sweet for them. There are a million ways to do it, and you know your guests better than anyone, but here are a few ideas.
Live Music
In a world of Spotify, bluetooth, iPhones, time-travel… You pretty much have the whole world’s music at your fingertips. And you have it all the time. And so does everyone else. This is a great thing, because no longer do you have to switch out a CD or a record when you are done listening to a chill study playlist and ready to blast Queen. It is all just a click or a tap away. And it only costs like $10 a month!
But here’s the catch…
Because music is so available to us all of the time, I believe we grow a little numb to its grandeur and beauty. And being so used to hearing music all the time through the thousand of mediums it comes through, we become a little less enamored with the beauty and novelty of great musicianship.
So all this to say, having live music at your wedding is a simple way to make your day super unique and enjoyable for all your guests. I mean, have you ever been within earshot of a string quartet? It nearly undoes me whenever I am.
Here’s a few ways to do it:
Hire a few friends who play music to play during the ceremony and possibly during the cocktail hour.
For a more classical feel, you could reach out to local string quartet for a more elegant and timeless atmosphere.
Hire a local band to play during the reception and dancing. This is such a sweet thing and with the right energy, guests really love to dance and interact with a live band.
2. Coffee, Coffee, Coffee
Okay, so this one may not sound particularly brilliant, but let me tell you, for the folks who drove a couple of hours, or who did not sleep much the night before due to travels, this is a huge gift. They will not be able to thank you enough if you have a little coffee station set for them to fuel up before they give it all on the dance floor, and then maybe grab another cup before driving back home, or to the hotel.
Options for this:
Ask your caterer to bring a coffee station with cups, cream, and sugar. (this should be pretty cheap addition).
Sometimes local coffee shops have coffee vans or trailers, and will bring their shop right to your wedding! The shop in the photo above is a Virginia favorite - Broad Porch Coffee Co based in Harrisonburg and Luray, Virginia.
3. Poloroid Cameras!
This one is such a fun addition, and it is a really special way to time-stamp your wedding for your guests. So set out a few Fujifilm InstaxMini poloroid cameras with a bunch of film, and let your guests have at it!
This is great for both you and your guests, because you can have a box or some hooks where guests can leave a Poloroid photo with a little note, or they can take a photo with Bride and Groom to take home as a keep-sake.
4. Scripture Highlighting
This one is super easy, and something really sweet for guests to interact with. All you need is a journal Bible, and a few highlighters.
This is a sweet way that your guests can highlight some of their favorite scripture and leave a little note of encouragement. I love this because guests have different scripture that they uniquely hold dear, and it is really special to have them sharing that with you.
5. Late Night Snack!
I was shooting a wedding recently where toward the last hour of the night, a late night snack of pretzels was laid out with a few different dipping sauces and some small plates. It was such a great little surprise! For your guests who do not have as much of a sweet tooth and skipped the cake, or for folks who have that long commute home, a little pick-me-up goes a long way.
So these are just a couple of options to really make the day special and enjoyable for your guests. I hope that helps and happy planning!
