Carter & Claire’s cinematic engagement session in Virginia Beach, VA.

Carter texted me saying he really wanted this session to be an exploration of bright, radiant light. I loved his vision and the inspiration images he was sending me, but this particular morning was the only one that worked, and it happened to be about as gloomy of a morning as ever happens in Virginia Beach. I was disappointed with how the morning was looking, but it was our only time so we just embraced it completely.

As we walked down to the beach and began shooting, something began clicking. I don’t know if it was the colors, the moodiness of the morning, or just how Carter and Claire we’re just loving on one another, but I could tell the photos were coming to life.

Like many days, the only light that cracked though the world was somewhere across that measureless ocean, which called something out of us. There is another light, and it is the fire that burns within. There was a different way to explore light on this sunless morning at the beach.

Friends, the light is in you, and for this session, that is just enough.
