Howdy! My name is William (Sumner is my middle name). I was born in Fort Worth Texas, grew up in the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia, and now I live with my lovely wife Elanor in Virginia Beach.
Photography at its center, is a simple love for beauty. The best parts of me just have to believe that beauty is always spilling through the cracks of every day. But for all the beauty that fills the earth, people and their lives take main-stage for me. I love wedding photography because it is a front row seat to the deluge of human experience.
The friends, family, and anticipation of a whole life together makes quite a drama, and I have the joy of putting it down in galleries, slideshows, and fine prints which folks can remember forever.
I shot my first wedding about 5 years ago when I was in high school. Throughout college, I just shot whatever came my way, and now about 25 weddings later, its parted from being a college side gig to becoming center focus. Then or now, capturing weddings is always such an honor for me. I’m deeply grateful for each opportunity to play a role in these grand moments of people’s lives. You’ll find me grinning-wide in a coffee shop while I scroll through wedding galleries because its just so dang beautiful to see people’s lives on display.
